Collaborative, Practice-Based Research and Crowd-Sourcing Real-Life Data
The Higher Synthesis Health practice aims to give people the opportunity to move from being passive consumers to active partners in health.
- Higher Synthesis Health aims to both provide useful services for each person, and to be a pilot project in a broader movement of practice-based research.
- Practice-Based Research aims to turn each clinical encounter into a source of data that can be examined and studied — in its own right and in relation to data from other clinical encounters.
We are pursuing the holy grail of systematic collection of clinical data in the service of practice based research, through several avenues, including a participating in a group of practices committed to sharing data capture methods in our clinics; pursuing funded research in developing practice-based research methods for integrative, functional and systems medicine; and participating in the Documenting Hope project. There are at present no perfect electronic health records to service this endeavor, but progress in pursuing the “good” when the “perfect” is not possible.
